Councilman Jimmie L. Williams, III has been appointed by Mayor Jeff Porter to be one of the chairpersons to sit on the board of the New Elected and Senior Management Pension Plans. Councilman Williams will be responsible for overseeing a fund valued in excess of $4.5 million.
“I am proud and honored to serve my fellow elected officials in this capacity,” said Councilman Williams. “I am humbled and honored by the trust and confidence that has been shown to me and I look forward to implementing steady and fiscally sound leadership for the duration of my term.”
The Florida Public Pension Trustees Association, located in Tallahassee, Florida, established for the purpose of providing education and information for the public pension system, will work with Councilman Williams on ethics training, and a host of other financially related subject matter where he will become a Certified Pension Plan Trustee at the conclusion of the course work. In that way, the councilman would be able to actively and meaningfully participate in the management of his new appointment as trustee of the retirement board.
Councilman Williams also sits on the Budget and Finance Committee and the Southwest Advisory Committee among others.
