On a Saturday morning this past August, local school children and their parents anxiously awaited outside the doors of the Nike Outlet Store in Homestead as part of an event organized by Councilwoman Patricia Fairclough and sponsored by Florida Power & Light.
The event was called “Put Your Best Foot Forward,” a shopping spree for some lucky local kids to spend up to fifty dollars on brand new shoes to kick-off the new school year with. Florida Power & Light generously donated to help the students be ready for the new school year.
“I would like to thank FP&L for partnering with me to brighten the lives of these young people and instill them with the pride that will hopefully carry over to their school work for years to come,” said Councilwoman Fairclough. “Sometimes, it is difficult to understand everything a child needs to be able to go to school. Parents have to buy so many text books and school supplies that I am glad we can create programs like this to offer a little help to our local families.”
