In support of Homestead’s young talent, Councilman Elvis Maldonado recognized thirteen-year-old Homestead resident Katia Nicole. The young singer and actress, who attends Southwood Magnet School for the Performing Arts, spends her time training locally at Paramount Dance Studio and volunteers with various charities across America by donating her talent at events.
Councilman Maldonado, who is the Chair of the Homestead Education Committee, expressed he was proud to recognize the young local artist and “support local talent and art education in Homestead,”
Katia, who will be releasing her first music video this fall, spoke about her experience playing a role in the set of the television show Burn Notice, which was produced in Miami Dade-County.
“That experience opened my eyes to see the benefits of bringing entertainment-related jobs to our economy,” said Katia. “Homestead could be a place where children, teens and adults could express themselves creatively thus having a positive impact on our community.”
“The City of Homestead has great talent!” said Councilman Maldonado. “I will make sure we continue to support our talented youth.”
