[ARCHIVED] Councilwoman Fairclough Invites Local Students to Participate in “Mayor for a Day" Essay Contest

The Florida League of Mayors and the Florida League of Cities are sponsoring a statewide essay contest titled “If I were elected Mayor . . .” The contest is offered to all seventh-grade students in Florida public schools.

Homestead Councilwoman Patricia Fairclough, long a tireless advocate of youth education, would like to encourage all local seventh-graders to put their thinking caps on and participate in this once in a lifetime opportunity. The Councilwoman is also inviting the local participating students to send the entries directly to her email so that she may provide guidance and gain a fresh perspective through new ideas for local government. She can be contacted at: pfairclough@cityofhomestead.com

Entries for the Florida League of Mayors and the Florida League of Cities “If I were elected Mayor . . .” contest must be postmarked by March 14, 2014. A committee comprised of members from the Florida League of Mayors Board of Directors will judge the essays and three statewide winners will be selected. Contest details can be downloaded using this web address: http://www.floridamayors.org/Assets/Files/2014Entryform.pdf
