[ARCHIVED] Councilwoman Fairclough’s Toy & Bike Drive Brings Cheer to Area Children

On December 19, 2013, the Phichol Williams Community Center hosted Councilwoman Patricia Fairclough’s Christmas Toy and Bike Drive. For the second consecutive year, Councilwoman Fairclough enlisted the help of a distinguished line-up of organizations and charities to bring joy and good tidings to some of the less fortunate members of our Homestead community. A key contributor and frequent collaborator with many of the Councilwoman’s community outreach efforts, Start off Smart (S.O.S), an affiliate of the Homestead Police Department that seeks to identify and help at-risk children and families, did much to ensure that all the gifts found their proper destination. Among the other organizations that participated were the Army Special Operations Command South who donated over 100 gifts, fulfilling specific requests from children, and Coral Gables Congregational UCC which made SOS families the recipients of their Christmas Angel Tree this year with members donating over 500 gifts for children in the Homestead community. Councilwoman Fairclough personally purchased bicycles for the cause. The Councilwoman went on to thank the many individuals that came together as one.

“Every single one of the organizations that lent their resources to make this such a successful event does so because of their big hearts and loyalty to the community they serve. I would also like to thank Homestead Police Chief Al Rolle and the members of his command staff for diligently working hand in hand with the wonderful people that make S.O.S the shining example they are.”
