During a special council presentation on December 18, Internal Affairs Detective Antonio Aquino took to the podium to herald in the latest crop of officers to join the Homestead Police Department. Prior to the traditional swearing in ceremony, Det. Aquino had some choice words to impart upon the new recruits before embarking on their journey representing our city.
“The great thing about these individuals is that they represent the next hundred years of police officers to watch over our city,” said Det. Aquino, referring to the recent celebration of the City of Homestead’s Centennial.
Det. Aquino introduced Capt. Marie Kent who, in turn, called upon the new officers to approach the podium. The city clerk then proceeded with the swearing in ceremony. The officers are: Full-time Officer Christopher Cosio, Full-time Officer Kervins Norvil, Full-time Officer Darryl Mays, Reserve Officer Natalie Viton and Reserve Officer Roberto Valdes.
