On December 12, 2013, from 6-9 pm, the Audubon Village clubhouse was the place to be for a night of mingling with friends, relaxing holiday music, and amazing food!
Councilwoman Waldman and Mr. Jim Sutton from the Audubon Board planned this social al fresco event for the community that will be a lasting memory for all who attended. The Palace Gardens made every effort to impress with butler passed hors d'oeuvres and libations and a dinner service that was second to none. The villages were dressed in their holiday best. Palm trees decked in lights, a swimming pool surrounded with poinsettias, inflatable holiday figures and garlands were all on display.
A ribbon cutting ceremony for the recently renovated clubhouse was in order and Homestead’s newest Executive, Mayor Jeff Porter was introduced along with the City of Homestead Council. Dignitaries, including three-term Miami Mayor Xavier Suarez, and many others from various federal, state and county governments along with representatives from sister cities Florida City, Palmetto Bay and Cutler Bay were also in attendance. The evening also featured a parade of gifts that were donated for Councilwoman Waldman’s toy drive by some 300 hundred guests to benefit the children of the Homestead Soup Kitchen.
“I never tire of marveling on how the citizens of this great city are always so willing to give of themselves,” said Councilwoman Waldman. “It’s that neighborly spirit and sense of charity that makes the residents of Homestead so special and not just during the holidays but all year around.”
A special thanks goes out to Celebrity Rehab and Medical Center for offering free poolside chair massages to the guests. That was a nice touch to the end of a workday!
