Hundreds of Homestead residents were able to receive free health screenings during the September Southwest Health Fair organized by Councilman Jimmie L. Williams, III and the Southwest Advisory Committee. The Health Fair, which took place in the newly renovated Blakey Park, located in the Southwest of Homestead, offered a casual yet confidential environment for all citizens to get their health questions answered by professionals. During the November Homestead City Council meeting, Councilman Williams recognized the sponsors and volunteers who made this important event possible.
“Without the resources provided generously by the sponsors and the time and effort dedicated to this event by so many volunteers, our Health Fair would not have been possible,” said Councilman Williams during the special presentation. “Over 250 people were served at this much needed event. It is my honor to present this recognition to the sponsors and volunteers who believed in this effort and made it happen.”
Councilman Williams awarded Certificates of Recognition to volunteer Phyllis Horn, a community organizer in the Southwest district, and sponsors Community Health of South Florida (CHI), Signature HealthCARE at Brookwood Gardens, BioCollections Worldwide, the Florida Heart Research Institute, the Florida Department of Health, the Florida Center for Allergy & Asthma Care, the Reform Experts and Celebrity Rehab & Medical Center.
