The annual Halloween Event organized by The City of Homestead Parks and Recreation Department was a runaway hit with more than 1500 in attendance this year! The yearly event has been steadily growing and is fast becoming a “fan favorite” among the residents of Homestead to the delight of those who work diligently every year to make the event a success.
In honor of the Parks and Recreation staff who organized the event and dressed up in colorful Halloween costumes during the celebration, Councilwoman Judy Waldman, Chairwoman of the Parks and Recreation Committee, presented certificates of appreciation to the staff during a special presentation at the November 20th City Council meeting.
“It’s a unique event in that the adults seem to be having as much fun as the kids,” said Councilwoman Waldman, who also helped organized the event. “We take great pride in providing a fun, festive atmosphere every Halloween in an event that is safe and free to all; and we have a great time doing it!”
Director of Parks and Recreation, Dennis Maytan, closed the presentation by thanking the council and his staff. “We appreciate everything the Council and the Mayor do for this event. Organizing events such as these is never a one-person affair but a collective one that involves a lot of moving parts. I cannot thank my staff enough for what they do.”
