Councilman Maldonado donated a brand new laptop to 13-year old Homestead resident John Stepp, who unfortunately will have to spend a lot of time in the hospital during this school year while he is getting treated for a tumor. Councilwoman Judy Waldman learned John needed a computer through conversations with his mother, Homestead resident and South Dade News Leader employee Texas Stepp. Councilwoman Waldman reached out to the community asking if anyone could donate a much needed laptop to this young child in need. Councilman Maldonado immediately responded and a couple of days later John was holding his new computer in which he will learn and do the homework for many of his classes including his Internet-Prep math class at South Dade Middle School.
