During a Special Presentation at the August Homestead City Council Meeting, Councilman Elvis Maldonado honored the first group of students who participated in his newly created City Council Internship Program.
“Various residents reached out to me asking if there were programs to get Homestead’s youth more involved civically, so I wanted to implement an internship program that would teach young students how public administration works with a hands-on approach,” said Councilman Maldonado, Liaison to the Education Committee. “These students always accomplished their projects professionally and truly surprised me with their enthusiasm and curiosity to learn. Next summer, we will definitely continue the program so we can reach out to even more high school and college students who are driven and want to get experience in government.”
Each of the participating students received a Certificate of Internship Completion and a recommendation letter from Councilman Maldonado. The students who participated in this year’s Councilman Elvis Maldonado Summer Internship Program are Reynaldo Del Valle, Bianca Del Valle, Christian Espinoza, Daniel Regalado and Victoria A. Bradford.
