Councilwoman Jenifer N. Bailey is pleased to announce the Firefighter of the Year Award is open for nominations. This prestigious award aims to recognize and honor the outstanding dedication, bravery, and exceptional service of Miami Dade County Fire Rescue (MDCFR) firefighters who have gone above and beyond the call of duty in serving and protecting our community.

The Firefighter of the Year Award is a testament to the commitment and selflessness demonstrated by Miami-Dade County's finest firefighters. It acknowledges the individuals who have exhibited exemplary qualities in their daily work, showing extraordinary bravery, professionalism, and service to others.

Nominations for the Firefighter of the Year Award are open to all active Miami-Dade County Fire Rescue firefighters. The award seeks to highlight those individuals who have demonstrated outstanding performance in emergency response, community engagement, leadership, and innovation. Nominations can be submitted by fellow firefighters, colleagues, community members, or individuals from the City of Homestead who have witnessed or experienced the exceptional efforts of a firefighter in the line of duty.

"We are proud to launch the Firefighter of the Year Award, which serves as a platform to recognize and appreciate the remarkable dedication and sacrifice of our Miami-Dade County Fire Rescue firefighters," said Councilwoman Bailey. "We encourage community members, fellow firefighters, and colleagues to take part in this opportunity to honor those who have gone above and beyond their call of duty to ensure the safety and well-being of our residents."

A panel of distinguished judges will review the nominations and select the recipient of the Firefighter of the Year Award. The chosen firefighter will be presented with a commendation at a special ceremony held later this year.

Nominations for the Firefighter of the Year Award can be submitted online at www.cityofhomestead.com/firefighter. Nominees will be evaluated based on their exceptional performance, acts of heroism, commitment to public safety, and positive impact on the community.
