City of Homestead residents now have access to a new COVID-19 Housing Assistance Program. Several municipalities within Miami-Dade County, including the City of Homestead, have created a Housing Assistance Program using CARES Act Funds. The program is designed to support tenants and homeowners with up to six months or $6,000 of past due mortgage or rental assistance. Funds will be paid directly to the landlord or mortgage lender in the form of a grant by Miami-Dade County, which must be used solely to provide rent or mortgage forgiveness in the same amount to eligible tenants or homeowners.
Homestead residents in need of assistance should visit www.miamidadecovidrelief.org to access the Housing Assistance Program application. To start the application, residents must click on the button marked “Begin” and fill out a short questionnaire that will confirm eligibility prior to the full application process.
The City of Homestead also offers other rental and utilities assistance programs to eligible residents. To learn more about these programs administered through the Homestead Community Redevelopment Agency and through Community Development Block Grant funds, visit www.cityofhomestead.com/covidhelp.
