[ARCHIVED] Homestead Public Services Warns of Potential Water Testing Scam

HPS Scam Alerts

The City of Homestead would like to alert its residents about scams that have been reported by Homestead Public Services customers. A supposed utilities representative visits a home or business purporting to be conducting water testing.  Once admitted to the property, the scammer will report that water is severely contaminated and advise that it is necessary to purchase an expensive water filtration device.

Please be advised that the City of Homestead and Homestead Public Services are not conducting door-to-door water testing and there is no current issue with water quality.  If you encounter someone claiming to be conducting this type of testing, we recommend you do not admit the person to your property and contact Homestead Customer Service at (305) 224-4800 or Homestead Police at 305-247-1535.

If you think you may have been a victim of this or another scam, you may also contact the authorities listed below:
