Over one hundred and twenty volunteers have signed up for a day of cleaning the main steers, sidewalks, medians, schools and parks of Southwest area of Homestead. The Southwest Advisory Committee Clean-up Day will be held on Saturday, June 1st from 8:00 am to 11:00 am. Volunteers will gather at the Phicol Williams Community Center, 951 SW 4th St., at 8:00 am and will be divided into groups and assigned an area.
“This is a grassroots way of keeping our community clean and inspiring young students to keep our streets and parks garbage-free,” said Councilman Jimmie L. Williams, III, Council Liaison to the Southwest Advisory Committee who is organizing the clean-up day. “We are happy with the response of so many volunteers who want to keep our streets and parks in the Southwest area clean. We are hoping to make this an annual event to keep on encouraging our community to take care of our environment so we can enjoy a clean and beautiful neighborhood.”
