The City of Homestead has adopted a proclamation, along with dozens of cities across the state of Florida, declaring April 17th as Florida Military Family and Community Covenant Day.
During a special presentation of the March 20th Homestead City Council meeting, Councilman Stephen R. Shelley presented to Lieutenant Colonel Frank Melgarejo, Commander of the United States Army Battalion for Miami, with a proclamation by Mayor Steven C. Bateman declaring April 17th as Florida Military Family and Community Covenant Day.
“This proclamation represents the City of Homestead and its continuing commitment to supporting and honoring all military service members, veterans and their families,” said Councilman Shelley. “We are honored to join cities across the state of Florida in our unwavering support of this proclamation.”
Florida Military Family and Community Covenant, Inc. (FMFCC) is a Florida not-for-profit Corporation, whose sole objective is to establish and sustain local Florida Military Family and Community Covenant support efforts that connect and coordinate agencies, organizations, resources and employers for the purpose of meeting the needs at the local level of service members, veterans, and military families. On April 17, the FMFCC will display all the resolutions made by Florida cities to honor all Florida military families.
