NOTICE OF PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD AND PUBLIC MEETING TO DISCUSS THE FY 2019 CDBG ALLOCATION AND ACTION PLAN, NSP AMENDMENT, SUBSTANTIAL AMENDMENT TO THE 2018-2019 CDBG PROGRAM FOR PUBLIC SERVICES FOR THE ELDERLY, FAIR HOUSING, AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT NEEDS OF THE CITY
2019 CDBG ALLOCATION
The City of Homestead has been awarded approximately $807,257 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds for FY 2019-2020. The annual Action Plan has been developed in accordance with the Consolidated Plan and includes funding for the Cybrary, Public Services, Administration, Section 108 repayment, and other activities. The Action Plan may be viewed on the City’s website, or by contacting the individual listed below in the City’s Finance Department, beginning on June 4, 2019. The Action Plan will be submitted to HUD on or about July 15, 2019.
NEIGHBORHOOD STABILIZATION PROGRAM AMENDMENT
The City of Homestead intends to amend its Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP) to do the following:
Renovate and sell 5 City-owned properties to Low and Very Low Income Residents utilizing Program Income. Use remaining program income and program income generated from the sale of the housing units and all subsequent NSP program income for the Cybrary, totally approximately $500,000. The public may view the amendment on the City’s web site beginning June 4, 2019, or by contacting the individual listed below. The amendment will be submitted to HUD on or about July 15, 2019. The public may comment at the June 19 meeting on this amendment.
2018-2019 CDBG SUBSTANTIAL AMENDMENT PUBLIC SERVICES FOR THE ELDERLY ALLOCATION
The City of Homestead will consider awarding approximately $72,000 of Community Development Block Grant Program funds to fund Senior Citizen Activities for FY 2018-2019, with special attention focused on the southwest area of Homestead. The City may award all or partial funding to non-profit service providers that intend to assist the elderly, with emphasis on the southwest area of the City. The amendment will be reported on the 2018-2019 CAPER.
FAIR HOUSING AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT NEEDS
During the June 19, Public Meeting, the City will receive comments related to Fair Housing and Community Development needs.
PUBLIC MEETING
The City will conduct a public meeting during the regularly scheduled City Council Meeting at 6 PM, June 19, 2019, City Hall Council Chambers, 100 Civic Court, Homestead, Florida. The purpose of the public meeting is to receive public comments on the proposed 2019 CDBG Action Plan, NSP Amendment, Substantial Amendment for Elderly Public Services, Fair Housing and Community Development needs of the City.
