The City of Homestead and CareerSource South Florida (CSSF) have partnered once again to find jobs for local students while school is out.
Enrollment is now open for the 3rd Annual Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP), designed to place kids in entry-level positions with local businesses and community-based organizations. As part of the partnership, the City of Homestead will invest $50,000, while CSSF will invest $100,000.
Through a lottery process, the SYEP will provide summer youth employment to 86 students between the ages of 15-18. Participants must reside in the City of Homestead and purchase free or reduced lunch or be part of a family that receives TANF.
The program also boasts a 20-hour work readiness training where youth will learn skills such as: resume building, mock interviews, job application preparation, financial literacy, and life and time management.
