MLK 2018 Events

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Breakfast—Friday, January 18, 2019 7AM

Phichol Williams Community Center, 951 Southwest 4th Street, Homestead, FL 33030 (FREE)

This annual gathering is a morning of celebration and contemplation as everyone from distinguished dignitaries to the youngest children reflect on the struggles of the past and dreams for the future.  This year’s theme is drawn from Dr. King’s final book, Where Do We Go From Here: Chaos or Community?, in which he calls for all Americans to unite in order to fight poverty and create equal opportunity for all.  The event is free and open to the public, but an RSVP is requested at www.cityofhomestead.com/mlk.


MLK Parade—Saturday, January 19, 2019 2PM

Loren Roberts Park, 627 NW 6th Ave, Florida City, FL 33034 (FREE)

Celebrate the legacy and message of one of the great leaders of the 20th century. Parade starts at 2pm at 1125 SW 4th street and culminates at Loren Roberts Park.  Enjoy live music and get into the spirit of unity at this yearly favorite.  Hosted by New Visions For South Dade, Inc.  For more information: mlkfest@yahoo.com or call 786-286-8783.


MLK Festival—Saturday, January 19, 2019 2PM-8PM
