At the Special Presentation on August 22nd, Homestead Mayor Jeff Porter announced that Florida City Gas would present a contribution to SOS (Start Off Smart). SOS is a non-profit organization and initiative of the Homestead Police Department that integrates law enforcement and human services personnel to provide community-based services for local families exposed to violence.
Tiffany Rodriguez, a representative of Florida City Gas, presented a giant check for $1,000 to Sandi Nanni, the executive director and CEO of SOS.
“The employees of Florida City Gas would like to present a contribution to SOS,” Rodriguez said, noting that employees raised the funds themselves, adding, “We are especially proud.”
Nanni responded, “We would like to express our gratitude to Florida City Gas. These funds will go to children in our community. Thank you so much for serving this community.”
About Start Off Smart (SOS):
SOS (Start Off Smart) is a 501(c)3 initiative of the Homestead Police Department that integrates law enforcement and human services personnel. SOS seeks to provide a full range of community-based social support services via a multi-disciplinary team, working collaboratively with the Homestead Police Department in order to meet the needs of families who are exposed to violence. SOS accepts all referrals pertaining to residents of South Miami-Dade County, Homestead and Florida City.
SOS’s mission is to guide individuals, children and families towards independence and safety and using strong collaboration, to improve the quality of life for residents living and playing in the community.
