The Homestead Centennial Festival and Concert that took place on Saturday, February 2nd culminated with a grand pyrotechnic show that illuminated the Homestead sky. The long firework display was made possible thanks to a number of sponsors and contributors who were summoned by Councilman Stephen R. Shelley to make this worthy grand finale happen.
“Many organizations and individuals, who make up our Homestead community, really stepped up to the plate and helped us with the necessary funding to make sure the Homestead Centennial was celebrated with a worthy firework display,” said Councilman Shelley at the February 20th Homestead Council Meeting, where he recognized everyone who contributed to the Homestead Centennial firework display. “On behalf of our residents and the Centennial Steering Committee, I would like to thanks them and recognize their generosity.”
Councilman Shelley awarded certificates of appreciation to Value Place Lodging, Sylvia and Carlos Batista, Community Bank of Florida, Homestead-Miami Speedway, and the Homestead Tourism Board for sponsoring the display. Firepower Displays was also awarded a certificate since the company not only created the amazing fireworks display on the night of the celebration, but also offered a generous discount to help make the show possible. Parks and Recreation Director Dennis Maytan and Centennial Steering Committee Chairwoman Yvonne Knowles were also awarded certificates of appreciation for helping organize the fireworks display and its fundraising.
