[ARCHIVED] Councilman Stephen Shelley Awards Proclamation to the Chapman Partnership

At the November City Council meeting Councilman Stephen R. Shelley honored Chapman Partnership for the organization’s dedication to social services and helping homeless families and individuals. A proclamation was presented in which Mayor Steven C. Bateman named November 11-18 2012 as Hunger and Homeless Awareness Week in Homestead.
“Helping feed the homeless through the Chapman Partnership showed me the impact one meal can have on one life,” said Councilman Shelley. “I encourage everyone to either volunteer their time or donate funds to help make a difference through this fine organization.” Since 1993 the Chapman Partnership has worked with community businesses and organizations to empower homeless men, women, and children to build a positive future by providing them resources and assistance critical to their long-term growth and stability. They do this by offering many on-site services that include health care, day care, afterschool care, case management, job training, job placement, and housing placement assistance to help residents attain self-sufficiency and housing stability. As the private sector partner of the Miami-Dade County Homeless Trust, Chapman Partnership is commissioned to site, build and operate two Homeless Assistance Centers in Miami, and Homestead.
“What makes our Homestead facility so special is all the on-site resources we offer and the partnerships we have with our community, businesses and organizations,” said Elizabeth Von Werne, Director of Program Services at the Chapman partnership. “Seventy three percent of our residents have been placed into permanent or transitional housing this year alone, and I invite everyone to go to our website www.chapmanpartnership.org and learn more about who we are, what we do, and how you can help.”
