During a special presentation of the November City Council meeting, Councilwoman Judy Waldman and the U.S. Military Vets Motorcycle Club encouraged the community to remember and honor our fallen veterans by sponsoring or donating a wreath for Wreaths Across America.
“I will never forget the first time I placed a wreath and honored my father and other veterans for their sacrifice,” said Councilwoman Waldman. “It was very emotional and I encourage others to do the same, please join me and donate a wreath this year. Let’s take part in honoring our fallen veterans, and the sacrifices they have made for this country.”
Wreaths Across America is an annual observance that pays respect to military veterans nationwide on December 15. Hundreds of thousands of wreaths are donated through contributions, and then placed on the graves of veterans during a special wreath ceremony.
“There are almost a thousand military veteran graves just here in Homestead, and our goal is to cover every one of them,” said Michael Leeds, a representative from Wreath Across America. “It only cost $15 to purchase an evergreen wreath, and you can help remember and honor the men and women who have fought and died to make our freedom possible.”
Members of the U.S. Military Vets Motorcycle Club, along with Councilwoman Judy Waldman will host the annual Wreaths Across America on Saturday, December 15th, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Palms Memorial Cemetery. Everyone is invited out to join and take part in paying tribute to these brave men and women of our nation. If you would like to sponsor a wreath please visit http://www.wreathsacrossamerica.org/store/?a=d for more information.
