May 12, 2017—The Homestead community celebrated a new milestone in revitalizing Downtown Homestead with the Groundbreaking Ceremony for Homestead Station, a multi-use transit and entertainment center located at the intersection of Krome Avenue and Mowry Drive. The project will include a 1,000 space parking garage, multi-screen movie theater, bowling alley, restaurants, and retail. Homestead Station will also serve as the Homestead Trolley Hub and connection to Miami-Dade County Transit.
The project is the result of a Public-Private Partnership between the City of Homestead and Ax-i3. It is expected to be completed in early 2018. Attendees at the event heard from Homestead’s Mayor, City Council, and City Staff as well as representatives from Ax-i3 and other distinguished dignitaries.
Homestead Station is part of a larger Downtown Revitalization effort. Recently completed components include the City Hall, recently restored historic Seminole Theatre, and newly constructed Police Station. For more information about Downtown Homestead, visit www.cityofhomestead.com/downtown
