[ARCHIVED] Homestead Mayor’s Youth Council Needs Your Support!

The Homestead Mayor’s Youth Council needs the support of our community.  In order to fund their annual educational tour to Selma, Birmingham, and Montgomery, Alabama, they have pledged to sell trees through the Buy A Tree.  Change A Life.  campaign.

“Buy A Tree.  Change A Life.  helps children locally and globally and part of that local effort is helping the Mayor’s Youth Council fund this year’s educational tour in Alabama,” said Vice Mayor Patricia Fairclough, the Mayor’s Youth Council Liaison.  “With the support from the city and community, we know that we will meet our goal and these promising young people will explore some of the sites where our nation’s history was forever changed thanks to the Civil Rights Movement.”

Buy A Tree. Change A Life. is a nonprofit organization made up of a group of people who care about the needs of disadvantaged children in our own community, as well as throughout the world.  They partner with other groups who share the same passion and set up yearly Christmas tree tents.

Since its inception in 2012, the Buy a Tree. Change A Life. program has raised $283,485 to help children globally and locally.  In Homestead, that money provided local youth with college scholarships, Christmas presents, back-to-school supplies, and temporary financial aid for families who experienced joblessness due to severe illness.  Additionally, the funds helped support education, food, housing, and care at the PACE Children’s Home in Siem Reap, Cambodia.

100% of the proceeds received from tree sales fund the local and global efforts. To support the Mayor’s Youth Council, visit Life Pointe Church at 16490 SW 304 ST Homestead, FL 33033 between 9am and 10pm and say you would like your purchase to go to the local contribution for the Mayor’s Youth Council. For more information call: (305) 247-0889.
