[ARCHIVED] City of Homestead Swears In Mayor, Vice Mayor, and Councilmembers

On the evening of November 4th, Homestead welcomed Mayor Jeff Porter, Vice Mayor Patricia Fairclough, Councilman Jon Burgess, and Councilman Larry Roth for new terms on the dais. All four candidates won their respective races with landslide victories.

Mayor Jeff Porter, with his wife Cindy by his side, was sworn in by his father-in-law and former Mayor Nicolas Sincore. Mayor Porter will serve a two-year term as Mayor of Homestead. He was previously elected to a two year term as Mayor in November 2013. Before that, he served on the Homestead City Council for 10 years from 1997-2007 and served as Vice-Mayor from 1997-1999.

Vice Mayor Patricia Fairclough took the Oath of Office administered by her brother, Carlos Brown. Vice Mayor Fairclough was elected to a two-year term as Vice Mayor, as well as a four-year term as Councilwoman in Council Seat #6. She was first elected to council in November 2011 to serve a four-year term in Council Seat #6.

Councilman Jon Burgess had his Oath of Office administered by his wife, Charelle, and his son Jon Russel (JR). Councilman Burgess is currently serving a four year term representing Council Seat #2, which includes the City’s Keys Gate area. He was first elected in November 2007 to a two-year term as Vice Mayor and a four year term to represent Council Seat #2. He was then re-elected to serve as Vice Mayor again from 2011 to 2013 and another four year term representing Council Seat #2.

Councilman Larry Roth was sworn in by his wife, Alisa McPheron. Councilman Roth is serving his first term as Councilman for Council Seat #3 for a four-year term. Previous to his election, Councilman Roth was an active member of the Homestead community with a long record of community service and charity work.
