[ARCHIVED] Councilwoman Fairclough Hosts Second Annual Back to School Shoe Giveaway

Dozens of local children will step into the first day of school with confidence thanks to Councilwoman Patricia Fairclough’s “Best Foot Forward” event. This is the second year she has organized this shopping spree for some lucky local kids to spend up to fifty dollars on brand new shoes to kick-off the new school year.

“There are so many things a child needs to be successful at school—books, backpacks, pens, pencils—but we often forget about other necessities like clothes and shoes,” said Councilwoman Fairclough. “That’s why I’m so proud of this program that takes it a "step" further to help our local families.”

The VIP shoe shopping experience took place on Saturday, August 15, 2015 at the local Nike Outlet Center. Kids and parents waited with excitement as the doors opened and these lucky children were able to purchase this season’s freshest kicks.
