Homestead Energy Service sent a crew of linemen to Long Island, New York to assist with post Hurricane Sandy power restoration. The five linemen along with 2 bucket trucks and a large pick-up truck departed for New York on Tuesday, October 30th. Homestead Energy Services’ restoration crew is joining nearly 2,000 personnel from around the country to assist the Long Island Power Authority with power restoration in hundreds of thousands of homes and businesses.
The high winds and torrential rains of Hurricane Sandy combined with a winter weather system over the east coast brought down countless power lines and poles and resulting in widespread power outages throughout the northeast corridor. Homestead Energy Services five-person crew is anticipating an initial two-week run as they assist with power restoration.
“Our crew has experience with post hurricane and storm power restoration and we are glad we can help our fellow public power utilities through our Mutual Aid agreement,” said Homestead Energy Services Director Barbara Quiñones.
The Homestead Energy Service employees that are currently aiding the restoration efforts are Bill Miner, Marco Quijano, John Ingram, Wil Worrall & Brett West.
