It’s a dirty job, but somebody has to do it. Those somebodies are often the Homestead Public Services (HPS) Sanitation Department—who were honored for their dedication and hard work by Councilman Jimmie L. Williams, III during the April 2015 Special Council Presentations. Each member of the Department received a certificate of appreciation and $10 gift card to Flagship Cinemas.
“It gives me great esteem and honor to recognize tonight one of our City’s hardest working Departments,” said Councilman Williams. “I want to highlight the job that they do because it’s a very tough job and they do it with a smile on their faces. Whether it’s the support staff or the management—everyone works together to make this City great.”
HPS Sanitation provides residents of the City of Homestead with reliable and efficient solid waste collection and recycling services. Customers of HPS Sanitation receive recycling and trash pickup twice a week as well as weekly bulky waste pickup.
“I’ve been here 35 years, so you know I’m dedicated to this job,” Solid Waste Manager Milton Bailey remarked after Councilman Williams presented him with his certificate. “I’m glad to do it and I want to thank the Mayor and the Council for their appreciation of the work we do in this Department.”
