The act of giving back to the community can take many forms. This is why Councilman Jimmie Williams III presented Sandra Brock and the South Dade Middle School Steppers with a special Certificate of Appreciation. Not just for their outstanding dance performance during last year’s Thanksgiving Dinner, but for their service and invaluable volunteer work the next day, at the Turkey Giveaway.
Ms. Brock is the advisor for the South Dade Middle School Steppers, a leader in her community, and a generous and outstanding volunteer. Ms. Brock is always trying to lead by example, and teach her dance troupe the importance of giving back.
Councilman Williams recognized Ms. Brock and the South Dade Middle Girls Steppers for their dedication to the Homestead community through community service. “Every year she helps us encourage the Steppers to give back to the community, whether through volunteer service or dance. I would like to present them with this certificate, to let her ladies know how much we appreciate your hard work, your enthusiasm and your positive energy."
Councilman Williams then closed the presentation by reading an inspiring quote from Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.: “Everybody can be great...because anybody can serve. You don't have to have a college degree to serve. You don't have to make your subject and verb agree to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.”
