At a special presentation during the October City Council meeting, Councilwoman Judy Waldman recognized all the community partners and sponsors that made this year’s Kindness Awards possible.
“Our community partners helped us honor kindness and service that we see in Homestead today and 20 years ago during Hurricane Andrew,” said Councilwoman Waldman who organized the event. “I want to thank them for their help in putting together this important event that brings attention to our community heroes and their services.”
For the last ten years Councilwoman Waldman has been awarding citizens in the City of Homestead who do random acts of kindness. This year’s Kindness awards also commemorated the 20th anniversary of Hurricane Andrew, where the kindness of friends, neighbors and strangers played a pivotal role in reconstructing Homestead. The event, which took place on Tuesday, August 21st at the Homestead-Miami Speedway, was possible thanks to the help of volunteers and community partners. Among the sponsors Councilwoman Waldman acknowledged were The Palace Gardens, which catered the luncheon at no cost to the City, Robert M. Levy and Associates Inc., T.R. Jones and Company, Thunder Country, and the Homestead-Miami Speedway.
