Thanks to the efforts of Councilman Jimmie Williams and a last minute surge of donations, some lucky Homestead families in need had a Merry Christmas. The selected families gathered in the Councilman’s office for a cozy, intimate evening on December 24, 2014.
“In this time of year, it’s wonderful to be able to give back to those in need,” said Councilman Williams. “I want to thank the Homestead community for their generous support. It truly is better to give than to receive—especially when those receiving are so kind and deserving.”
The atmosphere was filled with holiday cheer as the children were able to enjoy the bounty. Each child picked two toys to enjoy during the next year and beyond. The families smiled and celebrated as the joyous sounds of holiday music played in the background. Councilman Williams also joined in the fun, making sure a good time was had by all.
As each child picked gifts, the Councilman made sure to create a special connection. He inquired after their studies and made sure their toys would match their interests and be both fun and educational for years to come. At the end of the evening, everyone had a heart filled with love and cheer.
