Losner Park will transform into a state-of-the-art outdoor theater for the premiere of Building Homestead—an innovative and modern video approach to delivering the State of the City.
The Homestead community, council members, and assorted dignitaries will gather in Losner Park at 104 N. Krome Ave. in Historic Downtown Homestead at 6pm on Thursday, January 29, 2015 for the premiere of the short film.
The concept of Building Homestead comes from Mayor Jeff Porter, who wanted to avoid the formal State of the City events of the past and create a more accessible way of showcasing the City’s progress.
“This year, instead of delivering the traditional speech, I wanted to find a more creative way to share our notable accomplishments,” said Mayor Jeff Porter. “We will actually show you the strides we are making to stimulate Homestead’s economy, and improve opportunities in education, culture and quality of life. The video will also be shared online so that thousands of Homestead families and visitors can see how we are building a new Homestead”
Building Homestead will highlight all of the exciting news of the past year and showcase members of the Homestead community who contribute day to day to the city’s progress. From project-to-project and building-to-building, there are exciting developments happening in and around Downtown Homestead that stimulate the economy and enhance cultural opportunities and quality of life. Part of this was made possible by May’s Bond Referendum, where voters showed overwhelming support for Downtown revitalization projects—a big reason why the premiere will take place in the heart of Historic Downtown.
The premiere of Building Homestead is open to the public and attendees will enjoy catered hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar immediately following the screening. To attend, please RSVP at (305) 224-4455 or rsvp@cityofhomestead.com.
Following the premiere, Building Homestead can also be seen on the City of Homestead’s local access channel (Comcast 77, ATT in the Menu under Government TV), Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/CityofHomestead), and Vimeo (http://vimeo.com/cityofhomestead).
