More than 300 local children had a happy holiday, thanks in part to the efforts of Councilman Elvis Maldonado. The 2014 Annual Migrant Children's Toy Run took place on Sunday December 14, 2014 at The Everglades Village in Florida City, FL and provided toys, shoes, book-bags, and pizza to South Florida children in need.
The heartwarming event was organized by Jenny Love Music, Ed Carrera, and Chrome Knights Motorcycle Association in partnership with Councilman Maldonado, Miami-Dade County Public Schools, and Miami-Dade County Commissioner Jose Pepe Diaz.
Teri Weinstein, Chair of the Homestead/Florida City Community Relations Board, represented Councilman Maldonado and brought greetings and well wishes on his behalf. “It’s not every day that we get to give back to our communities,” said Councilman Maldonado. “I am grateful for the opportunity to provide those less fortunate with the means to have a happy holiday and hope that others do the same throughout this season of giving and through the coming year.”
Councilman Maldonado graciously provided pizza for 325 kids, while an amazing group of South Florida bikers (including the Chrome Knights M.A., Cartel Baggers and the Christian Motorcycle Association among many others) helped provide toys and smiles to all of the children at the Redlands Christian Migrant Association Center.
