Councilman Elvis R. Maldonado met with recently appointed Superintendent for Miami-Dade County Public School’s South Region Alex Martinez. Councilman Maldonado, who is the Chair of the Homestead Education Committee, held the meeting to welcome Superintendent Martinez and introduce him to the work of the Homestead Education Committee.
“I look forward to working with Dr. Martinez towards incorporating more magnet programs in our Homestead schools,” said Councilman Maldonado. “He shares the common goal of our Committee of supporting academic achievement, creating more programs and raising the bar for our students.”
Dr. Martinez said it was a thrill for him to be back in a municipality that he loves. “Our responsibility is that of the children, and, we also have to be focused on the attention and the courtesy we offer to parents,” said Dr. Martinez at the August City Council meeting, where he introduced himself to the Homestead community.
