[ARCHIVED] City of Homestead Recognizes Lowe’s Community Giving

Lowe’s, the retail home improvement giant, was acknowledged for their long-standing record of giving back to the communities in which they do business by Councilwoman Patricia Fairclough during the Special Council Presentation on October 2014. For over 60 years, Lowes has been there to assist schools and community organizations during times of financial hardship by donating manpower and much needed supplies. Lowe's has demonstrated a commitment towards supporting projects that have the greatest impact on communities and align with their core business of home improvement.

Pastor Brock Shiffer, pastor at Speedway Community Church of Homestead and long-time partner with Lowes and their philanthropic efforts, had this say. “The bible teaches us that it is better to give than receive and the people at Lowes put that belief to work. Thanks to them, we were able to fix a leaky roof that has been a five year ordeal for the 250 parishioners of a local church recently. I’m also happy to report that Lowes has adopted Campbell Elementary School and the project is running smoothly to this point.”

Also on hand and duly honored were Amy Zewinsky, Tori Tonton and Campbell Elementary Principal Thelma Fornell.

Added Councilwoman Fairclough, “I have a deep respect for companies such as Lowes that make it their responsibility to give back to their own communities. Their motto ‘Never Stop Improving’ isn’t just lip-service but it's a rallying cry and a mindset for their customers and employees saying that they’re committed to never stop improving their business, customer experience and communities."
