In 2022, The City of Homestead was awarded a $500,000 grant from the State of Florida to offer comprehensive breast cancer screenings for eligible Homestead residents. From January 2023 through June 2023, they partnered up with Florida International University (FIU) Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine’s Linda Fenner 3D Mobile Mammography Center to aid in hosting 32 sessions at 9 different locations for City of Homestead residents to get free mammography screenings, for those who met the eligibility requirements, and access to resources depending on the diagnosis.
The City of Homestead remains committed to improving health outcomes for women with breast cancer and increasing awareness of the importance of annual mammography screenings and access to resources.
